NOTES FROM MOM

Be Blessed

Praise God!

There is a scripture that been going around and around in my head lately. It is found in Proverbs 23:7. “As he thinks within his heart, so is he.” This Proverb was talking about not desiring the food of a selfish man. It goes on to explain that what he says with his mouth is not what he really means. “He says to you, ‘Eat and drink’, but his heart is not with you.” His heart is not right. It is deceitful and self-centered.

God has been ministering to me that this is a key to living in the abundance of His blessings. As we think within our hearts, that is what we are. It doesn’t matter what we say or do on the outside, it is the inside or the heart of a person that really determines who they are.

Have you ever wondered why you don’t get prayers answered, especially after you have confessed the word of God over and over again? Have you ever thought that God’s word really doesn’t work for you? It may work for others, but it certainly doesn’t work for you! I believe the main reason we don’t get answered prayer is not because of God holding back His blessings, but because our hearts are not truly lined up with His word.

Jesus came to this earth to fulfill the word of God in every way. When He left, He gave everything back to man again. He had fulfilled the laws that kept the blessings from coming to us, and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven waiting for the time to come back for us. In other words, He has given us everything we need for life on this earth and godliness to carry out the work He has for us to do. ( beginning in II Peter 1:3)

When we were born again, the Holy Spirit created a new spirit in each of us. II Corinthians 5:17 tells us we are now new creations, created in Christ Jesus. All old things passed away and everything is made new. We were then and there given the power to conquer everything that comes against us so we can walk freely in the blessings of God. God is now our Father. We are no longer subject to the schemes of the devil. We already have every promise of God and the ability to fulfill it right inside of us in our born again spirit.

Hosea 4:6 tells us, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” When we were born into this world, we all came the same way…as innocent babies. We had the sin nature in us and later on in life we would all have to be born again in order to get to heaven. However, we are all products of those people and events that happened in our lives as we grew up. As we grew, we developed mind-sets and took on characteristics of those we grew up with. Some things are permanently etched into our minds as well as our subconscious minds.

The born again experience is not just to get us to heaven. God has made provision for us to live free while we are still on the earth. Jesus overcame the devil and God gave Jesus the name that is above every name…that at the name of Jesus, every knee in heaven, on earth and under the earth must bow. ( beginning in Philippians 2:9-10) We now have the authority to use the name of Jesus. We have been given authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall be any means harm us. ( beginning in Luke 10:17 & 19) Once we are born again, we are to grow up spiritually and to use our God-given authority to conquer the things in our lives that keep us in bondage.

Romans 12:2 tells us how to do that. “And do not be conformed to this world (or the old way of thinking and acting), but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Let’s look at that scripture for a minute. We aren’t able to stand on our own. We need to be transformed; and the only way to do that is to renew our minds with the word of God. The reason is to prove God’s will for our lives. His will for our lives is good and acceptable and perfect. It is not His will for us to be sick, discouraged and depressed.

Jesus died in our place and did away with all of that. All through the New Testament He went about healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil. All means all!! He isn’t holding back our blessings. Why would he die to give it to us and then hold it back?

It is our lack of knowledge and not believing in our hearts that is holding back our blessings. It is our old mind sets and the way we act and react to our circumstances that hold back His blessings.

God provided it all for us. Now it is up to us to use His word and allow Him to change us. It is not enough just to speak His word over circumstances. We have to meditate on His word as we read and speak it and allow the Holy Spirit that is in us now to get it into our hearts. For it is with the heart that man believes, and it is with his mouth that he speaks. Out of the abundance of the heart flow the issues of life (not the mouth).

When our heart is changed by the word, it isn’t hard to get the blessings of God into our lives. I might also add this is a life-long journey. It doesn’t happen overnight. It is a daily walk with our Lord and Savior and a continual journey along life’s way until we attain the things He died to give us. As we walk with Him, allowing Him to renew our mind and heart with His word, miracles start happening and eventually we walk free here on earth in the power of His word and His nature.

We have to value the word of God and what He did for us. We have to put the past behind us every day as we walk in newness of faith and life. We have to forgive and ask forgiveness as we go along. We have to be in His word and communion with Him. That is our part. His part is to bring those things forth that are in our hearts once they have been renewed to believe His word.

God wants us free! He wants to bless us with the desires of our hearts. He wants us whole and healthy. We can’t do it in our own strength. We also can’t do it for someone else. This was a hard one for me. I believed the word and walked in the word to best of my ability…interceding for others and trying to carry them by my faith. But the word of God came to me: each of us have to work out our own salvation. (Philippians 2:12) Even those who are saved have to work out their own salvation.

Salvation set us free from the penalty of sin, but not the power of sin. If we have a sinful mindset, we tie the hands of God. His angels are sent to us to perform His word. (Psalms 103:20) We can’t be saying and doing things contrary to His word and expect miracles to come forth. We have to get His word into our hearts. Then when we speak, it will come to pass for us. It isn’t hard. It is easy. We just need to shut down the things that don’t line up with His word and meditate on His word, allowing the Holy Spirit to change our hearts and our minds.

My prayer for you is that God will change you from the inside out. Be blessed!!
