David's Story

We don’t know much about David (not his real name). He grew up pretty much on the streets. He was into drugs and crime most of his life. We do know he was a skinhead. He had tattoos from his waist up and he was very mean spirited.

When Pastor Glenn went to visit David for the first time, he was very glad there was 2 inches of bullet-proof glass between them. He was schizophrenic and pretty wild acting.

Pastor Glenn began to tell him about Jesus. As he was talking to him, David quieted down and listened. He liked what he heard and enjoyed it when Pastor Glenn came to visit him.

As Pastor Glenn got more acquainted with David, he began to open up to the word of God, but because of the medication he had to be on to keep him quiet and the demons that controlled his life, he was not able to accept Jesus as his Savior.

After one of the visits with David, Pastor Glenn prayed for revelation as to what the demons were that were controlling him. He had shared the fact that they would often bother him at night, and he would get up with scratches all over him in the morning. They wouldn’t let him sleep much, and they were driving him mad.

The next time Pastor Glenn went to visit David, he was surprised to hear David, himself tell him the demons he needed to be delivered of. They were the same ones the Lord had shown Pastor Glenn.

It soon became clear that in order for David to be free, he had to go through deliverance. Since there are no contact visits on death row, we knew it wouldn’t be possible to spend quality time with him on a one-on-one basis, so we prayed and asked the Lord what to do.

The Lord showed us to send him a book called “The Divine Revelation of Hell” by Mary K. Baxter. So we sent it to him and waited. About 10 days later, we received a seven-page letter from him, praising God and telling us how wonderful our heavenly Father is.

After receiving the book, he began reading it and couldn’t put it down. He read it until morning, then got down on his knees and asked Jesus to save him. Jesus not only saved him, but delivered him from all the demons that were controlling him!! Contrary to what we had been taught, Jesus didn’t need a man to deliver a person…only His word and His Spirit.

Being in prison is no picnic, especially in maximum security prisons. There is clanging, screaming, yelling, crying and cursing going on 24/7. It has been known to drive people insane. David told us he had so much peace that for a day or two he didn’t even hear that noise.

We received another letter just like the first one a couple of days later. It was five pages long; and he was off all medications and doing well. All were amazed at the transformation.

Since that time, he has had a lot of trouble staying free. We minister to him yet today, and continue to pray that God will keep him free and close to Him. Nothing is impossible with God. Jesus can keep David until He calls him home to be with Him in heaven.
